1.) Covering one eye per test, focus on the central dot in the Amsler grid shown below.

People with a normal Macula will see uninterrupted vertical and horizontal lines flowing to the ends of the chart. Those experiencing Macular degeneration might see wavy, blurred or distorted lines along with missing sections.
